This document sets out the standards for designing to reduce barriers to cycling in order to support road safety targets and increased levels of cycling in London. It is aimed not just at designers of cycle route schemes but at all designers of infrastructure that cyclists will use or that will affect cyclists. The development of standards and procedures for designing traffic and environmental schemes that will encourage cycling is one of the specific actions of the London Cycling Action Plan.
